Among the Bills which received the sanction of the Royal authority on Saturday [August 10, 1850], was one to enable the City of Toronto Corporation to issue Debentures to the amount of £100,000 in not less sums than £5 each, as soon as responsible individuals shall have subscribed that amount towards the Stock of the Toronto, Simcoe and Lake Huron Railroad. Power is also given to any other Municipality through which the road may pass, to issue Debentures in the amount of £50,000, subject to a similar condition. We understand that it is designed by the provision; of thie Bill to give to the subscribers to the Stock of the Railroad, time to pay up their shares; the Municipality in the meantime, providing the money to carry on the work by the issue of Debentures which are negotiable. Each Municipal Corporation is empowered to create on of its members a Director of the Company for every £50,000 Debentures it subscribes.
