Town council.

 ..

The Metropolitan Ry. Co. sent a communication stating that the line would be completed through the town early next spring.

 ..

Moved by Mr. Robertson, and seconded by Mr. Roadhouse:

Whereas the Metropolitan Railway Co. has made direct connection with the Town of Newmarket, having run its line of railway up Yonge street and through the several towns and villages, between Newmarket and North Toronto, giving an excellent passenger service of eight cars each way daily between the said points;

And whereas one of the conditions in the charter of the Metropolitan Ry Co. is that the said Co. shall carry freight over its road, and in order that this Town and other municipalities through which is passes may get the full benefit of said condition it is absolutely necessary that the Metropolitan Ry. Co. should be allowed to make the necessary connection with the trunk line railways at North Toronto and other points;

Be it therefore resolved, that it is highly advisable that the connection between the Metropolitan Ry. Co. and the Canadian Pacific Ry. Co. at North Toronto should be made, and the necessary authority should be granted for such purpose, thus giving all points on the line of the Metropolitan Ry. Co. direct connection with both the leading railways of this country.
