Toronto union station.—The question of the expropriation of some of the land cleared by the recent fire in Toronto is still engaging the attention of the Railway Commission, the city council and the railway companies. There has been much discussion and a lot of negotiating, the general trend being to bring all the parties nearer together. The companies have submitted a proposition to the city to construct a new Union Station at a cost of $1,000,000, the assessment to be $300,000, and to pay $15,000 a year rent for the land expropriated.
