North Bay Express off track at Washago

Three cars jumped when rails spread at 1.30 this morning—no one hurt.

Three cars of the North Bay express, which is due here at 7.00 a.m., left the Grand Trunk track at Washago this morning. The accident occured while the train was taking the siding and is due solely to the spreading of the rails. The train was carrying a heavy load of farm hands returning from the West, and hunters coming home from the Northern Ontario district. The passengers were all sleeping at the time, as the run-off occured about 1.30 in the morning. It took two hours to get the cars on the rails again, and during that time the traffic on the road was blocked. The train arrived in Toronto at 9.20, two hours and twenty minutes late, and the Cobalt train was also delayed one hour and 45 minutes on account of the accident. Washago is a small station about 14 miles north of Orillia.
