Disaster service on CNR line to be cancelled
The floor disaster commuter trains provided by CNR during the traffic emergency, will not be operated next week. The service will cease operation effective Monday, Nov. 1.
M. E. Doke, passenger traffic manager, said that while the volume of traffic handled on the Toronto-Oakville commuter run was 10 times above normal during the early days of the emergency, passengers had since declined to the extent that extra trains were no longer warranted.
Extra equipment will be carried on the two regular commuter trains for as long as required, he added.
