Jump to safety in rail crash

Five CNR crewmen jumped to safety yesterday seconds before a freight engine collided with the caboose of another freight on a spur near Oriole station.

Only injured member was Mel Dollar, 41, of Mimico, engineer of the freight which had pulled into the siding to allow another train to pass.

He was admitted to Toronto Western Hospital with shoulder and back injuries suffered when he and his fireman jumped.
