Opened for Operation - 1878 Built under Charter of - The Hamilton and Lake Erie Railway Co. under the following Statutory Authority
Ontario Act 33 V. Chap. 36 of 1869The Hamilton and Lake Erie Railway Co. amalgamated with the Hamilton and North-Western Railway Co. in 1874; this Company in turn was amalgamated in 1988 with the Grand Trunk Railway Company of Canada. In 1923 the Grand Trunk Railway Company of Canada amalgamated with the Canadian National Railway Co.

3. Brief Description of Territory Served
This line passes through a thinly populated mixed farming territory which is well served by improved highways. A good paved highway parallels the railway line and bus and truck competition is very severe. Milk and cream and other farm products are all handled by truck.
