J. C. Prior retires from C.N. railway service
Mr. J. C. Prior, C.N.R. station agent at Coldwater since 1902, will retire on January 23rd. Born in Barrie in 1873, Mr. Prior started his railway career here and was an operator at the Barrie station the year the late King George V., then Prince of Wales, passed through. He began with the old Grand Trunk, going from here to Allandale, then Newmarket, Lindsay, Hastings, Omemee, and to Coldwater in 1902.
During long years of service Mr. Prior never lost a day through illness and has never been late. He has many marks of merit for acts performed to aid the railway. Mr. Prior was married in 1903 to Miss Clara French, of Hamilton, and they have three children, Dr. J. D. Prior, of Smithville; Miss Margaret Prior, of the Hamilton teaching staff, and Joseph at home.
Mr. Prior always had an eye for the beautiful, as his garden and the Coldwater station surroundings testify, and his hobby is painting. He says he will be able to do just as he likes when he retires and does not expect to find time handing on his hands.
