Silliman's saw mill, erected at Bell Ewart has been destroyed by fire, it is not known how the fire originated. When discovered by some guests staying at the Hanmer House, the flames had obtained complete mastery, and as there was no fire engine the structure had to be given up to the flames. The lumber in stock was saved. There was a considerable insurance on the mill which, it is said will not likely be rebuilt at Bell Ewart.
