Ice harvest to begin on bay this weekend
Scott Bros. are starting their ice harvest this weekend. Tests from their field near the iron bridge, submitted to the Department of Health, are absolutely pure. Natural ice is scarce this year, but that in Kempenfeldt Bay is about 14 inches thick. Enquiries have been coming in from many points asks for information.
Dr. Rogers, M.O.H., reports the ice on the bay in the vicinity of Barrie is not fit for human consumption, due largely to the open winter and the water from creeks and sewage from the town and district. The railways use the ice only for cooling system and many be permitted to cut ice on guarantee that it will be used for cooling purposes only.
