Grand Trunk Ry.—We are officially advised that the work to be done in connection with the erection of the new car shops at Port Huron, Mich., involves the putting up of the following buildings: Passenger car shops, composed of two buildings both 130 ft. wide×250 and 310 ft. long, respectively, and both being served by a transfer table 60 ft. wide; 2 story cabinet shops 75×225 ft.; blacksmith shop 75×300 ft.; machine shop, 75×300 ft.; office building 42×88 ft.; store room 65×150 ft.; wood mill 100×200 ft.; lumber storage 75×130 ft.; dry kiln, 40×80 ft.; freight car shop 160×350 ft.; paint shop 25×50 ft. The buildings will be constructed principally of brick and concrete. The power plant is to be of modern construction equipped with boilers and generating plant for: furnishing electric power. The machinery will be motor driven throughout and the plant will be modern in every respect. The approximate expenditure is $700,000. (Sept., pg. 364.)
