Grand Trunk Ry.—The Lachine, Jacques Cartier and Maisonneuve Ry. Co. on Jan. 4 asked the Board of Railway Commissioners for approval of the location plans of the line, which crosses a number of streets in Montréal. The City of Montréal asked that the company be directed to construct subways at several of the street crossings, and that the city be protected from all claims for land damages. The Canadian Northern Ry. is also interested in the matter, and its counsel expressed a willingness to accept any arrangement made with the G.T.R., which is the senior company. The plans were referred to the Commissioners' Chief Engineer for report.

A press report states that the company is arranging for the construction of a new freight shed and additional trackage at Detroit, Mich., to cost about $300,000. (Jan., pg. 10.)
