Schomberg Aurora Railway
The first sod in the building of the Schomberg-Aurora Railway was turned on Wednesday afternoon, July 26, in the presence of a large company. The initial grading commenced on the farm of Mr. David Terry, on the fourth concession of King, directly back of Aurora. The road will be operated by steam, and will be about 16 miles in length. A connection with the G.T.R. will likely be made at King City. The particular district interested is now entirely unserved in the matter of railway communication. The new road in addition to the usual bonus given by the Local Government will carry a bonus also from the district through which it operates, a vote to that effect having carried some eighteen months ago. Mr. George Harper is in control of the construction staff, and work will be prosecuted from both ends. It is not anticipated that the road will be open before next spring.—World.
