Monday's flood
With the exception of some wet cellars the flood of Monday, caused by the thaw and rain, did little damage in Richmond Hill or vicinity. There were several wash-outs along the C.N.O. Railway, however, and trains that were not cancelled crossed bridges and culverts very carefully. The railway yards at Rosedale were flooded to a depth of four feet, and thousands of rats were driven from their homes in the garbage made land at the foot of Winchester Street hill.
