Train killers rider at John Street tracks
An unidentified man believed to be a transient was killed last Sunday morning in an unfortunate accident on the CNR siding near the John St. crossing at Thornlea. Both the man's legs were severed just below the knees, said Police Chief Clarence Wideman. A conductor on a northbound freight train noticed the body on the track.
The man wore good clothes covered by a pair of coveralls but carried no credentials or papers that might assist the police. He appeared to be about 60 years old.
Police believe that the victim was killed when he attempted to get off the train on which he was riding.
