The Southampton correspondent of the Paisley Advocate has reason to believe that the steamer Chicora will call at Southampton in the ensuing season. It is expected she will make two trips a week between Port Sarnia and Fort William, calling at the intermediate ports. She will run in connection with the Great Western Railway.

The Managing Director of the Northern Railway has reduced the charge for carrying cordwood over the line to lumber rates until the 1st of March next, as after that the square timber begins to move, and the wood trains will be taken off the track. The shippers are required to take a train of 12 cars, which have to be loaded, taken to Toronto, and unloaded on the same day.
