Lake Erie and Northern Railway

Bill reported by Committee-Steamship line across Lake Erie.

(Special Despatch to The Globe.)

Ottawa, March 2.—The Commons Railway Committee this morning reported with some minor amendments the bill chartering the Lake Erie & Northern Railway Company, with power to build from Port Dover to Simcoe, Waterford, Brantford, Paris, Galt and Ayr, to operate a steamship or collier line across Lake Erie. Mr. Lloyd Harris, M.P., for Brantford, who had charge of the bill, stated that the company would be able deliver coal to Brantford and other points at a cheaper rate than was now possible via the Buffalo route.

Railways: L.E. & N.Ry.
