Grand River Ry.—The Board of Railway Commissioners has been asked for approval of a diversion of the company's line through Waterloo Tp., and the City of Kitchener, Ont.
In connection with recent press reports that the company proposed to abandon street operation in Galt, Ont., we are advised that the company;s franchise expires in 1921, and that a renewal of it is not being pressed for. The company does not operate a street railway service in Galt in the ordinary sense of the term, and it is considered that the public can be better served by a line on private right-of-way than by one on the public street. The city has asked certain terms for a renewal of the franchise for 25 years. The matter is under consideration and no definite decision has been reached. (Oct., pg. 553.)
