Fatally injured on the railway.
Mr. Francis A. Graham, blacksmith, of Ottawa East, was this morning struck down and run over a Canada Atlantic train. After the accident he was brought to the Central Station and sent in an ambulance to St. Luke's Hospital, where he died later in the day. The accident happened on a sharp curve in the railway yards in Ottawa East. The Parry Sound train was coming in to the Central Station and was somewhat behind time. Mr. Graham was walking on the curve, and apparently did not hear the warning signals. Fireman Frank Popham saw Graham, and signalled by ringing the bell and blowing the whistle. The man did not heed the warnings; the brakes were applied, but too late to stop before striking Graham. He was hit by the cylinder, knocked down, run over and thrown to one side. The unfortunate man's left arm was broken and almost severed from his body, and his right leg, all his ribs and his skull fractured. An inquest will be held.
