Brakeman loses an arm

...

Between 11 and 12 o'clock on Monday morning while switching in the yard at Orillia Herb Pyeburn was caught in a box car and received terrible injuries. No person saw the accident, but it is supposed he fell beneath the car and then was dragged for a considerable distance. His right arm was run over in three places and so badly mangled that amputation was necessary in the Orillia hospital on Tuesday afternoon. He also had several ribs broken and was badly injured inwardly, so it is quite doubtful if he will survive. Shortly after the accident he kept asking for his mother so she was communicated with and at once hired a livery sleigh and drove to Orillia. His home was with his mother who lives on Essa St. He has another brother braking on the road and also a sister, Mrs. Cockburn, who resides here. Conductor Jno. Goring was in charge of the train at the Orillia yard when the accident occurred.
