Montréal offices.—The directors have approved of the plan of the new general offices as submitted by the architect, who has received instructions to proceed at once with the letting of contracts, & it is expected that the foundation will be commenced early in May. In so far as possible local firms will be preferred, but it is claimed there are several features in connection with the building which can only be supplied in the U.S. Nevertheless, the large features of the work will be offered to local contract & the disbursement of over $500,000 will be an encouraging feature at the beginning of a new season. When once the work is commenced, it will be proceeded with with the utmost energy, but it is not expected the building will be finished before Sept., 1900.
