An instance of absentmindedness was experienced in a Metropolitan car on Saturday night. The president of the road was being conveyed to Bond's Lake, when the power was suddenly shut off. After waiting about half an hour, a messenger was sent to the nearest telephone to enquire the cause of the trouble, when to the dismay of the conductor, it [the trolley pole] was not in contact with the wire.
