The Metropolitan.
Tuesday was pay day on the electric road and Manager Moyes with his satchel was cordially received by the employees. Hon. Wm. Mulock, Postmaster-General, and his family were conveyed over the electric by special car on Monday to Mulock's Corners—their county seat. The trip it is supposed, was made in connection with the proposed plan for the company to convey mails over their life after Sept. 1.
The Toronto World man was in town on Tuesday arranging about the delivery of their papers on arrival of the early morning car.
A special car was to leave here at six o'clock last night and run to the city to convey local politicians who were desirous of hearing Sir Richard Cartwright deliver his defense of the policy of the present administration. The car was to return after the meeting. Fare 70 cents.
More people appear to be travelling by the trolley than by the steam cars.
If the Dominion Express Co. would open an office in Newmarket the other company would get nothing to do. Their rates are excessive on small parcels.
