Improved station sought at Kingston

C.N.R. seeks to discontinue suburban line, offers certain concessions

(Special Despatch to The Globe.)

Kingston, June 25.—A conference was held here today between representatives of the Board of Trade and the Canadian National Railways with regard to the railway company's proposal to do away with the Kingston suburban train, which has run for the past 40 years between the city station at the foot of Johnson Street and the outer station. The company loses $28,000 a year by maintaining this suburban service, it was stated. In return for cancelling it, the railway officials offer Kingston certain improvements at the outer station, but the offer made does not meet with the approval of the civic authorities and the Board of Trade, which ask that the C.N.R. build a new station and allow the street railway the right of existing its tracks into the railway property for the benefit of passengers.

Railways: C.N.Rys.

Stations: Hanley, Kingston
