Automatic block signal 124 was located on approach to the switch leading to No. 4 track. Note the unusual markings P124 and F124 on the targets. Based on Automatic Block Signal System Rules, the upper arm (or head) would govern moves on the Eastward track (e.g., Green over Red or Yellow over Red) while the lower would govern moves to the No. 4 Track (i.e., Red over Yellow). A May 1953 Railway Signaling and Communications One control machine for interlocked yard area, pg. 330, depicts the signal as Green-Yellow-Red/Yellow Red. The handthrow switch was equipped with a G.R.S. Model 9A electric lock (the pedestal located between the switch stand the relay case), which had an integral train approaching annunciator as referenced by Rule 512. |
