New rules in force
On Sunday last at 12.01 a.m. the new rules as laid down by the Railway Commissioners came into force, causing not only a big change in the operating but enormous expense attached to inauguration of the same. The company had to put new switch lamps on all switches with a new red and green lense; all semaphores must be on the right hand side of track approaching a station, and the arms of same must turn away from the tack, instead of across as formerly. An enormous expense is also involved by the company having to destroy all former time cars. They had to have new ones printed with the new rules and instructions thereon. Some idea of the number of time cards used here is 5,000 of the Northern Division. hese are all given out at Allandale.
