Ward six live news

On Thursday, November 20, Canadian National engine no. 2662 became derailed about 100 feet east of the Essa Road crossing about 4.15 p.m. It was pulling a long train of cars loaded mostly with wheat from Collingwood and blocked traffic on both Essa Road and Baldwin St. for over three-quarters of an hour. Fortunately, passenger train no. 62 from Meaford was due twenty-five minutes later and pulled the cars back off the crossings. Thus a much longer delay was averted, as it was impossible to get an engine out of the yard to the west end of the train. Very little difficulty was encountered in re-railing the engine, another engine pulling it back on the track very easily.
