Supt. W. B. Way to retire from C.N.R.
A. H. Cavanah, Capreol, will take over duties on July 1st.
Among the various changes becoming effective July 1st on the Canadian National Railway System, brought about by a more rigid economic retrenching policy, those of local interest are the retirement of W. B. Way, superintendent of the Allandale Division, and the adding of a portion of the Capreol Division to the Allandale DivisionThe Bala , Depot Harbor and Sutton Subdivisions were transferred to Allandale with change of time table effective June 28, 1931CNR.CR.NOD.36.. The balance of the work in Capreol will in future be taken care of at North Bay. At the end of this month, A. H. Cavanah, superintendent at Capreol will success Mr. Way, who retires on pension after 46 years of railroading.
Mr. Way, who was born at Bowmanville in the year of Confederation, commenced his career as telegrapher with the C.P.R. at North Bay, and was later promoted to chief dispatcher at Chapleau, where he remained eleven years, when he became assistant superintendent at Montréal and later at Farnham, Québec. Two years later he left the Canadian Pacific and became identified with the then Grand Trunk Pacific and was stationed at Cochrane for 14 years. Two years ago he succeeded W. Weegar as superintendent of the Allandale Division.
Although here only a short time, both Mr. and Mrs. Way have made a host of friends, who will be glad to know that they are not going to remove from this district.
In Mr. Way's opinion, Barrie is one of the most beautiful and charming towns in the whole of Canada in which to live. They will remain here for the balance of the summer at least, and in all probability, make their permanent residence here.
