C.P.R. station at Orillia commenced.
The Orillia News-Letter says: The contract for the new Union station for the C.P.R. and C.N.R. has been awarded to Mr. G. T. Martin, of Smith's Falls.
Work has commenced. On Monday the stake posts marking out the foundation for the new building were driven. Piles for a foundation will be driven in a few days and the building started as the officials hope to to have it completed early in December.
The new station will be situated at the foot of Mississaga street and the north end of it will be about ten feet south of the street. The building will be a handsome one and will towards the lake. It will have a frontage of 109 feet and a width of 28 feet. The front will be finished with red pressed brick, and the roof will be slated. A platform about 15 feet wide will run the full length of the building between it and the main line track. The station when finished will be a credit to the company and the town.
The station will contain a general waiting room in the south end, then the ticket office, a ladies' waiting room next to the ticket office, a baggage room north of this and an express room at the north end.
Mr. Martin has the contract for all the C.P.R. stations in this line from Orillia to Peterboro.
