On Thursday afternoon the south bound North Bay express, about four miles the other side of Novar, struck a tie which had in some means become lodged on the rails, with sufficient force to throw the entire train and engine off the track. Fortunately it remained right side up, and little damage was done—no person being injured. A wrecking crane was soon at hand and succeeded in about three hours in placing the train on the rails again. Detective Cockburn investigated and found that the tie had fallen off a jigger, none of the section hands having noticed it.
