127 diesel engines ordered by CNR.
Montréal, Sept. 7 (CP).—Canadian National Railways has ordered 127 new Diesel locomotives—19 of them for passenger lines—from five locomotive manufacturers, it was announced today.
Three Canadian companies—General Motors Diesel, Ltd., London, Ont., Canadian Locomotive Co., Ltd., Kingston, Ont., and Montréal Locomotive Works—will build 106 of the Diesels.
The remaining 21, for use on CNR's U.S. lines, will be built by the American Locomotive Co., New York, and the General Motors Corp. Electro-Motive Division, LaGrange, Ill.
