Midland.—A large staff of men and teams are working at the foundation for the Grand Trunk Pacific Elevator at the Wye. The building will have a storage capacity of 2,500,000 bushels and will be built, for the most part, of reinforced concrete and will be fire-proof. About 24,000 cubic yards of concrete containing 35,000 barrels of cement will go into the work, as well as a considerable quantity of structural steel. A 1,000 H.P. electric power plant and a concrete wharf are included in the contract. The elevator will receive grain from lake vessels by means of two moveable legs, capable of unloading 2,200 bushels per hour each, and will be equipped to load 240 railway cars per day of 10 hours.—Free Press.
