Level crossing fatality.

At Raikes' Crossing about five o'clock on Saturday afternoon, Geo. Carney, who resides just outside the Town limits, was struck by the official train of Supt. Tiffin and Transportation Manager Brownless and instantly killed. Deceased was in the act of driving across the G.T.R. track when the horse is siad to have balked just as the engine came upon them. Carney's skull was fractured in the collision and the rig demolished, the animal sharing the fate of the driver. No inquest was considered necessary.

Raikes' Crossing is known to be one of the most dangerous on the road, and only recently was the matter of subway or overhead bridge discussed between the G.T.R. authorities and Oro Council.
