The Ottawa announcement of a $100,000 grant to the CNR and CPR in connection with bridges on Rogers Rd. indicates a start on the work this year, metropolitan government officials said yesterday.

The new bridges are necessary to handle the increased flow of traffic on Rogers Rd. and the railways are responsible for part of the cost, estimated at a total of $650,000 in the 1954 budget of the metro roads committee.

The metro government is eligible for a provincial grant of 50 per cent on the cost of replacing the bridges. This would reduce the metro share to an estimated $225,000.

Railways: C.N.Rys., C.P.Ry.
