Lachine, Jacques Cartier and Mainsonneuve Ry.—The Montréal board of control informed the company's representatives, June 29, that it would not agree to any more level crossings within the city. As a result of this the question of the approval of the route of the L., J.C. and M.R., which was adjourned to see if an arrangement could be made with the city, came again before the Board of Railway Commissioners, July 11. It was decided that the Board's engineer should confer with the City Engineer and the Chief Engineer of the railway, and bring about an understanding. The company states that it does not desire to cross any existing street on the level, but does not desire to have to build an elevated line in districts where there are no streets.
