Close call trying to board moving train

A young man, John Thomas, of Guelph, had a close call on Thursday when he attempted to board a moving train as it pulled out of Barrie. In his first attempt he failed to get a hold. He then tried again and was thrown on his face beside the track as the train gathered speed. Eyewitnesses were horrified to see him fall, expecting he would be run over by the train. He managed to roll out a bit, which saved him.

Thomas suffered a badly lacerated face, a slight skull injury and a bruised side. He was taken to the R.V. Hospital by Dr. Ross, who attended him.
