The Newton Subdivision has as its origin:
The S. & H.Ry. originally connected with the W.G. & B.Ry. at Listowel until it undertook to construct its own line north to Wiarton. The two sections rejoined after the Grand Trunk Railway (G.T.Ry.) takeover Great Western Railway (G.W.Ry.)—the leasor of the W.G. & B.Ry.— on August 12, 1882.

Palmerston—

All trains must approach and move within yard limits prepared to stop unless main track is seen to be clear.
Extra distance, Stratford to Palmerston via North leg of Wye at Palmerston is 0.24 miles.
Listowel—
*Register station for Newton Subdivision regular trains and all trains to and from Kincardine Subdivision. During hours operator not on duty, train may leave Listowel without terminal clearance.
Switching movements over Elma Street public crossing at grade (C.P.R. spur line) must be flagged by member of crew. (B.T.C. 64637.)
Stratford—
