London improvements.—A conference is reported to have been held in London, Ont., recently, between the Mayor and City Engineer, and C. G. Bowker, General Manager, and T. T. Irving, Chief Engineer, Central Region, C.N.R., for the discussion of railway problems. It was suggested that the erection of a new station should be proceeded with on a design which would fit in with the track elevation programme which has been under discussion since 1906, and which it is estimated would cost about $8,000,000. The construction of a subway at Rectory St., at a cost of $350,000, is also said to have been discussed, and it is reported that the C.N.R. will have plans and estimates prepared for it, for consideration by the city. It is not likely, however, that it will be built this year.
